Genshin Impact is a gacha role-playing game that takes players into a huge, fully explorable open world. Although the game has its own training system, players can easily get lost in the quests and in-game mechanics. To ease your way through Teyvat, we prepared 10 tips that would be helpful for Genshin Impact beginners.
Here are some tips to help you successfully navigate the world of Teyvat, using the knowledge we’ve gained over many hours spent in the game.
You can die from a fall
Genshin Impact doesn’t forgive the clumsiness the player might experience during their first hours. However, in the beginning, you will get a glider to help you get around the heights of the game. Since Teyvat is filled with many mountains, you will need to use the glider to slow down your fall. It is as easy as pressing the «spacebar» on the keyboard or the «jump» button on mobile, and it will save your character’s HP for possible encounters with the local enemies.
Pick up everything you see
As you walk around, you’ll see shiny objects around you just about everywhere. You have an inventory limit of 10,000, so just grab everything you can. It is not the limit for the total amount of items, though. They do stack. For example, if you have 100 Apples and 1 Sunsettia, in the top right corner you’ll see that you actually have just 2 items taking your inventory’s space. Moreover, there’s a separate limit for the weapons, artifacts, and furnishings, those won’t affect your «resources» inventory. Practically, even the experienced Travelers are yet to run out of space in our inventories. Flowers, food ingredients, and other items that may seem useless will be useful in the future for making various products and enhancing your characters.
Use your Elemental Sight ability to find the lost Seelie’s to bring them to the shrines
Throughout your journey around Teyvat, you will notice these blue glowing creatures called Seelies. When you follow them, they will lead you to their bases, or shrines. They are sometimes tricky to follow but keep at it and the reward will be waiting for you. Once you arrive, you will be rewarded with one of the treasure chests. The rarity of the chest correlates with the difficulty of Seelie’s path, but in the beginning, even the simplest wooden chest is important.
The Adventurer’s Handbook will help you find the bosses and will give you other important information
Eventually, you’ll need materials to improve your characters and weapons, which are only dropped from certain enemies. Don’t waste time looking for bosses. The «Bosses» tab in the Adventurer’s Guide will guide you to any boss you want if you just click the «Navigation» button. It will also tell you what items the boss uses and what rewards they can give you.
Heal your characters at the Statues of The Seven
Eating food will heal and revive your group, but you can quickly run out of it if you’re not careful. In between important fights, consider teleporting back to any of the Statues of The Seven. You won’t miss them since you unlock one of them in the very introduction of the game. These are large statues to which you sacrifice Anemoculus, Geoculus, and Electroculus to enhance your character. They will revive and heal your group members as you approach them and wait for a few seconds.
Note that the statues only heal your active characters. As you approach them, they will heal only your current group and won’t heal the ones that aren’t in your active party. To heal the rest characters, interact with the Statue and press the «Statue’s Blessing» button.
Watch for the Anemoculus, Geoculus, and Electroculus around the world
Anemoculus, Geoculus, and Electroculus are objects hidden around the whole Teyvat. They can float in caves, over rocks, and in many other places. There are hundreds of them, so you’ll want to keep track of them as you find them, as you need all these hidden objects to boost your stamina. At some point, you will be able to use specific items such as «Anemoculus Resonance Stone» to find the ones you missed. But if you don’t want to spend too much time and resources finding the last pieces, use the interactive map created by the community. It allows you to mark the orbs you find, making them easier to find.
Be careful with your «Wishes»
A wish is a gacha element in Genshin Impact that allows you to obtain weapons and characters of various rarity in exchange for premium currency known as Primogems. Players can do each «Wish» individually or do 10 wishes at a time.
The only bonus associated with drawing 10 wishes at a time is that it’s faster. The gacha banners say, «Every 10 wishes are guaranteed to include at least one item rated 4 stars or higher», but that also counts for single requests. The 10 wishes required to get a 4-star item are updated every time you wish, so even if you pull a 4-star on your first or second wish, the 4-star wish counter will still be reset.
That said, if you’re targeting a particular character, you’re better off pulling one at a time until you get them, rather than pulling 10 at a time.
Speak with the NPCs even if they’re not important in the plot
They will help you understand Teyvat’s world better. Remember, the world of Teyvat is new not just to you, but to the game’s protagonist as well. Immerse yourself in exploration, and the game will reward you for your curiosity with various items by choosing the right option in the conversations, which is usually highlighted with the chest icon. The lore is a big part of the game that finds its place both in the serious discussions and various memes of the game’s community.
Don’t miss your rewards for the Achievements
If you go to the game’s menu, you’ll see the «Achievements» button. Genshin Impact has a huge amount of achievements and completing each one will reward you with a small amount of Primogems that you use for the «Wishing». If you haven’t yet checked them, do it and you will most likely see a lot of not-yet claimed Primogems granted to you for the achievements you already unlocked.
Keep the diversity of the elements and weapons of your team
Combat in Genshin Impact is based on the elements and the physical damage. You can mix two elements together to deal extra damage or create an additional effect, such as freezing a target with water damage. Because of this, you want to make sure that you diversify your team with multiple elements. By swapping out characters and using their abilities, you can control the fight with elemental bursts.
But there are also reasons why you should have many characters of the same element on your team. The Elemental Resonance system gives you a bonus based on two types, the doubling of the elemental powers or diversification. If you have four separate elements, you get a bonus for elemental resistance. But if you have two fire characters, you get a permanent 25% damage buff.
Each pair of elements has a different effect, so experiment and find out which combination works best. In the Party Setup, press the top right button «Elemental Resonance» to check the bonuses currently applied and read about the other elemental resonance combinations.
